Walking with the kids

Gibson - Construction Site
Our Remodel project was subjected to rains on Wednesday... and after a day of rain I inspected the new rafters and sub-floor to find the plastic wrap we put to protect the studs and sheerwalls was now holding about 60 gallons of water, in between each.....
so 12 - 14 5-gallon buckets from Home Depot filled with water, which I gathered by carefully piercing the plastic to relieve the water weight... It was like carefully popping a water balloon without it bursting everywhere. The pocket of water (see photo) with the most took about 2 hours to drain.... Yes... seriously.
This morning, after taking care of some buiness meetings elsewhere, I returned to the construction zone to clean up the mess... and shop vac out the remaining water....
Lovely Silty Water... Luckily the plastic John put down was tacked up about 3 feet to create a lovely lagoon...
And Josie made sure she watched and supervised all the events as the morning progressed!!!!
Oh... and for the record... John was in Mississippi when these events happened... good job he wrapped and put down plastic before leaving....!!!! That probably saved us about $2000 in rotten wood...

Happy 4th of July...
Here's a little Gibson Update:
July 2011.... we are truly in the thrust of our remodel/expansion. Thankfully the garage/studio is complete so the kids have a safe place to hibernate when they are home and noise/lack of a place to play is an issue, or mommy just needs some peace and quiet (Wii Free) for a while..

David and Alex test out the trenches... just to make sure that they are deep enough.
This is the rebar for the slab to hold family room.. I think it's getting extra Wii-enforcements to handle the Wii and other Jumping around that this room is going to get.
The "Wedge" is how we refer to David's study room The door that exists now will soon go, so that he and Alex can actually have privacy.
